The beautiful house and garden of Monet in Giverny, France has around it a lovely village that really just consists of one long street. One of the shops along the road was this antique shop run by a friendly affable gentleman. He allowed us to browse and saw our interest in some 19th century port glasses. He easily persuaded us to make a purchase but it was with the proviso that we promised to take good care of them. A precious part of France was leaving for England and he felt a responsibility. They are still as good as new and in regular use. A treasured souvenir of a memorable visit to Giverny and this kind man. Maybe soon we can safely travel again – hope you are all safe and well.
