Just now it is snowing outside and it is bitterly cold as it has been all week. In fact the photo below was take on Thursday at Sand Bay, Somerset. It was so cold overnight that as the incoming tide hit the beach it froze and continued to build up until it seemed there was a bank of snow all the way down the beach. A most unusual site and not one I had seen before here in our new home area, an area that to us Lancastrians has always seemed to have extremely mild winters.
My thoughts turned to warmer times and more especially to the prospect of some sort of normal life returning. What would be your dream of the perfect scene to accompany coming out of lockdown. For me, after seeing friends and family, it has to be this perfect English scene, a scene that I have been a part of for most of my life – the English game of cricket played on a summers day in a village setting. I am sure you have your own scene in mind but this is mine, if I can see this again I will know that there is some sort of normality returning. Oh, and a glass of chilled French wine while I am watching. Hope you are all safe and well and can see your loved ones properly soon.
